Cup Defeat Means Nothing - Ipswich Town News
Town manager George Burley has played down the significance of Norwich City's 3-0 home defeat to Cheltenham on Tuesday night. Burley and coach Tony Mowbray watched the Canaries that night while scout Colin Suggett saw their weekend loss to Sheffield United.
Burley said: "Tuesday was a tough cup tie against a lower league side but it was completely different to a league game or a derby match.
"Even though Norwich got beat you could see they are a well organised side and they cause teams problems. They have started the season very well and their league form speaks for itself.
"We have had them watched a few times, they are a decent team, they just missed out on getting to the Premiership and are a hard team to beat.
"But a derby game is always a different type of match again. They will not need any motivation to come here and try to do well; everyone is desperate to win the match.
"It is a one-off occasion — past games have no relevance. There will be a full house for a game everyone is looking forward to."
