Town Hignett Link - Ipswich Town News

Town are being linked with Barnsley midfielder Craig Hignett. The Tykes' highest scorer and Wembley penalty hero is being suggested as a buy for Town if, and it does seem only if, Martijn Reuser doesn't join the club. George Burley said of the former Middlesbrough man: "Craig Hignett is a player I have always admired. He’s a good player, no doubt about that, but he is similar to Martijn Reuser. Who knows, if that deal falls through, we will have to look elsewhere."

Hignett would cost around £1.5 million, far less than his true value as his contract is up at the end of next season. Barnsley are seeking to reduce their wage bill now that they have been out of the Premiership for two years and the parachute money has ended. He is reportedly also being chased by Manchester City and Bradford.
