I Am Trying - Bent - Ipswich Town News
Marcus Bent has insisted he is putting the effort in after criticism of his recent performances by fans. Bent has scored just one goal this season, on the opening day at Walsall.
Bent said: "When I'm on the pitch I'm doing the best I can. I'm not going to run about the pitch like a headless chicken. You have to think about the runs you make. You are going to get tired. It is about 90 minutes.
"Fans have paid their money and have their opinions, but it is not always as easy as it looks from the stand."
Bent has played alongside a number of different strike partners this season, something he cites as one reason for his lack of goals: "I'm a little bit down at the moment.
"The Gaffer has changed it around for various reasons and that is his decision not mine. I'm just trying to get on with things. When I do play I give 120% and if people want to criticise so be it."
