Fighting Fat - Ipswich Town News

George Burley has told French centre-half Manu Thetis to lay off the pies and get into shape. Burley has said that Manu was out of shape last season and should sort himself out to get in contention for a place in his side.

Manu had an impressive first season with Town, but dropped back in the pecking order last year. Burley said that Manu's weight problems were evident last summer and he needs to get himself sorted in pre-season to prevent a repeat. Manu said last week that he wouldn't be looking to extend his Town career when his contract is up at the end of next season.

Richard Wright rumours continue to fly about with the Celtic story the current favourite. George Burley has refuted the story saying that interest from Martin O'Neill was news to him. One thing is certain, though no deal will be done with any club until after Euro 2000. Wright said after the Wembley triumph that he wanted to sit down with David Sheepshanks and sort out his future, however this hasn't prevented gossip from circulating regarding a move.

Town have refuted a rumour suggesting interest in Reading's Linvoy Primus.

Matt Holland played 90 minutes for Ireland against the USA in a 1-1 draw.

Town have reiterated that season ticket application forms will go out from Monday. Commercial manager Paul Clouting stressed that existing season ticket holders would get priority and that an announcement will be made in the next few days regarding the allocation of the remaining 6,000-ish season tickets.

One thing is guaranteed, queues will be long for casual Town supporters after tickets next season.
