Sign Up or Be Sold! - Ipswich Town News

England and Ipswich keeper Richard Wright has been told to sign up or face being sold. Town have been trying to tie Wright to a long-term deal for two years, but so far he has refused to sign. George Burley said: "If Richard wont't sign his contract he will be put up for sale.... I spoke to him last night and he said he had an open mind. The last thing I want is is for him to leave but we must protect ourselves." Town will want to cash in on the £5 million rated keeper before his contract is up at the end of next season. He will then be able to go abroad on a Bosman or be subject to a tribunal if he signs for a UK club. Town would certainly receive less than his value should this happen.

Town are awaiting Vitesse Arnhem's response to their bid before talking terms with Martijn Reuser. The offer is apparently less than the £1.2 million which had been rumoured.

Matt Holland will be looking to continue his run in the Ireland side this weekend when Mick McCarthy's side take on South Africa. Holland has played the entire 90 minutes of each game so far and has been told by McCarthy that he can expect to be involved in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

David Sheepshanks has failed in a bid to get himself elected as a Premiership representative at the Football Association. Sheepshanks only entered the contest last week, but didn't get enough votes to be appointed. Town's promotion has seen Sheepshanks lose his position as Vice-Chairman of the Nationwide League.

Town youngster Darren Bent is on stand-by for England's U16s who are facing Thailand at Bootham Cresent (June 11th) and Brazil at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland (June 16th).
