Darrens Called-Up - Ipswich Town News

Both Darren Bent and Darren Ambrose have been called-up to the England U19 squad for the friendly with Yugoslavia at Kidderminster on October 10th. Matt Bloomfield, who played for the England side last week in Hungary, is not included.

The selection of the two Darrens will not help any attempts Town may take towards having the Octber 12th game against Sheffield Wednesday called off. International U19 games don't count towards this.

The Blues could have to play the Sheffield Wednesday game without Hermann Hreidarsson due to only the Icelander and Amir Karic having international games that weekend.

Matt Holland's Ireland play on the following Wednesday and he may well be required by after the Saturday.

Whether Ambrose or Bent will be available for Town's Tuesday, 8th October match with Grimsby remains to be see, however, that week looks likely to provide headaches for George Burley one way or another.

Town play Wimbledon away on Sunday, 6th, then Grimsby on the Tuesday, the England U19s game is on the Thursday and the Sheffield Wednesday game on the Saturday. Matt Holland will be away with Ireland on the following Wednesday.

Darren Bent has already played three games for the England U19s and has scored three goals. Darren Ambrose would be making his debut having been overlooked last year.

England U19 coach Stuart Baxter has already said that the pair will be included in his squad for the European Championship qualifying matches against Macedonia, Romania and Moldova in November.
