"Bent a Liar" - Sartid - Ipswich Town News

FK Sartid officials have reacted angrily to Marcus Bent's claim that he was on the receiving end of racial abuse during the UEFA Cup game on Thursday.

Sartid press officer, Radoje Glisic, refuted Bent's version of events: "If that is what Marcus Bent said, it is a blatant lie.

"The Ipswich Football Club and their fans got a great reception in Smederevo and were delighted with our hospitality.

"Those of them who attended press conference after the match, including Marcus Bent... said they had never come across such friendly hosts.

"I do not understand why he would say something like that. I repeat, it is a blatant lie that there was any act of hostility or abuse against the Ipswich party."

Both Marcus Bent and Finidi George have said they faced racist abuse, however Town are not taking the matter any further themselves.

However, as we reported earlier in the day the FA are submitting their own independent account, which is unlikely to include statements from the players.
