FA Seeks UEFA Talks - Ipswich Town News

The FA's director of international strategy, David Davies is to seek talks with UEFA after racist insults directed at Town players marred the Blues' victory over FK Sartid on Thursday afternoon.

Marcus Bent and Finidi George complained of abuse during the game which Town won 1-0. Davies is determined to have the issue discussed by the European body: "We will be seeking urgent talks with UEFA. We need to step up the way in which we are looking at this issue - it is a worrying trend that it is the English clubs who seem to be suffering the most. We will sit down with UEFA to find new initiatives to tackle this problem."

Town are making no official complaint, preferring the FA to deal with the issue. Sartid are denying any wrong-doing on the part of their fans.

UEFA are to meet next week to discuss the issue after the FA delegate Bob Hughes' report alerted them to it, a spokesperson saying: "A disciplinary case has been opened regarding the Ipswich game on the basis of the delegate's report.

"The matter will be reviewed at a control and disciplinary meeting on October 10th.

"The other English clubs will also have their cases looked at, although Fulham are the only ones to have made an official complaint."
