Possible UEFA Opponents - Ipswich Town News

With the Blues seeded for the UEFA Cup second round Town are again likely to be visiting one of football's lesser names. However, as Chelsea found out, that does not always guarantee success.

The Blues have previously faced one of their potential opponents, Swiss side Grasshoppers Zürich who put them out of the UEFA Cup on away goals in 1979.

Town could also come up against Bontcho Guentchev's old Bulgarian side Levski Sofia or Chelsea's conquerers Viking Stavanger. At this stage sides cannot meet teams from their own country.

The draw is held at UEFA's headquarters at Nyon in Switzerland on Tuesday, with the games played on 31st October and 14th November.

Potential opponents: Vitesse Arnhem (Hol), Grasshoppers Zürich (Swi), Slovan Liberec (Cze), Hapoel Tel-Aviv (Isr), Besiktas (Tur), Wisla Krakow (Pol), Fenerbahçe (Tur), Red Star Belgrade (Yug), Legia Warsaw (Pol), Viking Stavanger (Nor), Amica Wronki (Pol), Denizlispor (Tur), Viktoria Zizkov (Cze), Partizan Belgrade (Yug), Austria Wien (Aut), Levski Sofia (Bul) Ferencvaros (Hun), FC Midtjylland (Den), Djurgådens IF (Swe), Anorthosis Famagusta (Cyp) National Bucuresti (Rom), APOEL Nicosia (Cyp).
