Moore Wants to Talk - Ipswich Town News

Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore says he wants the chance to speak to Town about the vacant manager's job. On Friday TWTD reported that the Millers had refused Town permission to talk to the 49-year-old.

Moore waved to all four Millmoor stands before Rotherham's 1-1 draw with Gillingham this afternoon with a press conference set for 5pm.

After the game he said he would talk to his chairman as he is definitely interested in Town: "Opportunities like this don't come round very often, and I wish I could take the opportunity to speak to Ipswich. I feel as though I have taken Rotherham as far as I can.

"Rotherham gave me a chance to get into management and I'd like to think that I've more than paid that off"

"I would like both sides to get together and sort something out. There is a clause in my contract which will enable me to leave the club. That was put in there to cover both sides.

"I haven't spoken to the chairman yet but I will do before I leave tonight and hopefully something will be sorted out."

His club earlier had released a statement: "Rotherham United FC confirms that Ipswich has made an official approach to speak to our manager Ronnie Moore.

"We do not welcome this approach and have refused them permission to speak to him.

"Ronnie has almost three years left on his contract to run and we expect to fulfil that and continue the excellent job he is doing at Millmoor.

"Ronnie has a special relationship with our supporters and I am sure that they along with the chairman and the board of directors hope that this is the end of continued speculation."

It is thought that £150,000 is the price which would allow Town to take the Liverpudlian boss to Portman Road.

However, in a twist the Blues are have denied making any approach to Rotherham for Moore.
