BBC commentator John Motson says Town will announce their new manager in the next few days and doesn't expect it to be Peter Reid. Motson was in Suffolk to receive an honorary doctorate in Civil Law from Suffolk College.
The legendary car-coat wearer has long been close to Town and is known to be a friend of David Sheepshanks.
He watched the Blues draw with Burnley on Tuesday night and suggested the new appointment might not be too far away: "I think there will be an announcement in the next couple of days, but I don't think the new manager will be Peter Reid."
Motson, who has a house in Suffolk and who was educated near Bury St Edmunds, felt Town are a better side than their league position suggests: "It's the story of their season. I don't think their league position reflects the capabilities of the team."
