Jonathan Barnett, the increasingly unpopular with Town fans agent acting for Richard Wright, has said that the Town goalkeeper would be more than happy to speak with Celtic. Barnett, also agent for Kieron Dyer and Matt Holland, said "Celtic are a big club and, if the opportunity came, he would certainly talk to them but it is not something that we have discussed". Barnett added that Wright was happy at Town and that no actual approach had been made by Martin O'Neill's club: "Celtic have not approached Richard and we haven't even discussed it. He is still contracted to Ipswich and intends to see out his contract at Portman Road." Wright has failed to sign an extension to his contract which is up at the end of next season. If he fails to sign an extension Wright will be able to go on a free abroad or, as he will still be under 24, on a reduced fee within the UK. It looks likely that Town will offer Wright for sale if no extension is signed.
Town are to give further details tomorrow on the development to Churchman's. Initially it seemed the stand would be built during the summer, however after the play-off win the club said that the development would be carried out in two phases, although no great detail was given.
George Burley has said that he is to look for three other players once the transfer of Martijn Reuser is complete. He has between £7 - £10 million to spend, although it is unlikely that he'll spend all this. The major priority will be a centre-half to replace Tony Mowbray.
Supporters are flocking to Portman Road to put in their applications for tickets, their applications for applications for tickets and to ask questions about season tickets. Many are pointing out that they have been long-term supporters and despite their lack of season tickets and feel that they should have some priority. To these supporters, and others making similar points on the phone, the club are telling to put it in writing along with their application. No promises are being made, but the club say they are trying to be as fair as possible. Quite what will be taken to be proof of past avid support is debatable, although presumably the club's ticket database will have details of the games people have attended if they purchased seats by credit card. Whatever happens there will be many many disappointed people.
There will be 600 new parking spaces near Portman Road next season with the opening of another Park and Ride car park, this time near Asda.. It will open in late October.
