Former Town manager George Burley watched Stoke City lose 2-1 to Watford on Wednesday night from the directors' box and is expected to be named the new boss at a Britannia Stadium press conference on Thursday afternoon.
Burley is reported to have been in talks with the Stoke board on Wednesday afternoon after returning from a holiday.
The Stoke job became vacant when Steve Cotterill left to join Sunderland just a couple of days before Burley lost his job at Portman Road.
