Logan in for Shock Start! - Ipswich Town News

Forgotten man Richard Logan is set to make his first senior appearance since the Morecambe FA Cup match in January 2001 when Middlesbrough visit Portman Road in the Worthington Cup on Wednesday night.

Logan, still only 20, made his debut for Town as a sub back in December 1998 in a 1-0 loss at Wolves. Since then he has made only three more Town appearances, also as sub, and has had loan spells at Cambridge and Torquay.

At Plainmoor last season he scored four goals in 16 games which he netted one in five at the Abbey Stadium the season before.

The Blues currently have a striker crisis with Marcus Bent seeing a specialist about a groin problem, Pablo Couñago suspended, Alun Armstrong picking up a hamstring problem and Richard Naylor still not back from his knee operation.

Also in the squad are Matts Richards and Bloomfield along with Ian Westlake who made his debut as sub against Gillingham.

Joe Royle has decided to rest Matt Holland, Darren Ambrose, Wayne Brown and Jim Magilton.

Keeper James Pullen is expected to make his senior Portman Road bow while it is likely that some of the other youngsters or fringe players will get a run out.

Squad: Marshall, Pullen, Makin, Gaardsøe, Venus, Wilnis, Hreidarsson, T Miller, Wright, Clapham, D Bent, George, Logan, Westlake, Bloomfield and Richards.
