Gerrard Sympathy for Andy - Ipswich Town News
New Town keeper Paul Gerrard has said he has sympathy with Andy Marshall. Gerrard slipped into Marshall's gloves at Watford on Sunday after being taken on loan by Joe Royle.
Gerrard says that despite understanding that Marshall is upset he is determined to do his utmost for the Blues: "I really feel for Andy Marshall, but I've been called in to do a job and will do it the best I can.
"I came down on Saturday and, not long after arriving, was straight on the phone to Andy. I feel for him, I really do, but that's football and you just have to get on with it."
Gerrard started his Town career with a clean sheet at Watford, as quiet a game as he can ever have had during his career.
Joe Royle felt he did well despite the long periods of inactivity: "Paul impressed without having a lot to do. He kicked the ball well and created a good impression."
