The Owls went ahead at Lincoln early on but the Imps levelled just after half-time.
Town are now two points behind the Pilgrims in second and three in front of third-placed Wednesday.
Behind them, Peterborough won 2-1 at Oxford, Portsmouth claimed all three points via a 1-0 victory at Forest Green Rovers and Bolton came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Accrington Stanley.
Elsewhere, on-loan Blues defender Elkan Baggott scored his second goal in two games for Gillingham as the Kent side drew 1-1 at home to Barrow in League Two.
