Tractor Girls Out of FAWNL Cup - Ipswich Town News
Ipswich Town Women exited the FAWNL Cup at the first round stage following a 2-0 defeat to Hashtag United at Aveley’s Parkside ground this afternoon.
Hashtag, the leaders of FAWNL Division One South East, a tier below the Blues, went ahead in the 24th minute when Sammy Rowlands’s deflected shot looped over Town keeper Sarah Quantrill.
The Essex side completed their victory five minutes after the restart when Grace Gillard netted from the penalty spot.
The game had originally been scheduled for last Sunday with the Tractor Girls at home, however, the tie moved to this weekend but with the Blues’ usual home venue, Felixstowe & Walton United’s AGL Arena, unavailable and no alternative local stadium found.
Town, previously unbeaten in six, will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Luton Town at Sharpenhoe Road in the first round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup next Sunday (KO 1pm).
Town: Quantrill, Boswell (Evans 74), Wearing (O Smith 56), Lafayette, Hughes, Horwood (c), King, Grey, Godfrey (O’Brien 56), Biggs, Thomas. Unused: Meollo, A Smith.
