Wayne Brown, given a free transfer by Joe Royle last week, is set for talks with Watford. The central defender spent three months on loan with the Hornets last season.
Town manager Joe Royle told the club site: "I have spoken with Wayne who informed me that Watford had shown interest and that he would be travelling to try and sort out a deal.
"I am not surprised, Wayne is a better player than a 'free transfer' suggests and it's only fair to allow him to go somewhere to play first-team football."
Towards the end of last week Watford were reported to have denied any interest in the 25-year-old due to their financial problems. However, it appears that manager Ray Lewington is being given funds enough to take Brown to Vicarage Road.
