McKenna: Humphreys Showed What an Intelligent Player He Is - Ipswich Town News

Blues manager Kieran McKenna says youngster Cameron Humphreys showed his ability to play different roles during Monday’s 3-0 FA Cup first-round victory at Bracknell.

Humphreys started the game as one of the number 10s before dropping back into the more familiar surroundings of the central midfield two, playing a part in Town’s second and third goals.

"We're delighted with Cameron and every game that he's had this year really, his performances have been really pleasing and most importantly, seeing him work every day in training and his willingness to keep learning and his humility has been outstanding,” McKenna said.

"He's shown the ability to play in different roles. He played more as a right-sided 10 or inside forward to start the game on Monday night and again, no problems, he takes to the role straight away, understands the role and created some good chances for us.

"But equally, he can drop back into midfield and understand the game really well from there.

"And then at the end of the game, when Panutche [Camara] comes on, Cameron is the senior midfielder and his voice in the game and helping those around him, showing what an intelligent player he is.

"So, we're very happy to have him, he's an important player for now and for the future, and he's certainly going to be important in the next few games.”
