Tractor Girls at Plymouth - Ipswich Town News

Ipswich Town Women face Plymouth Argyle away at Home Park on Sunday afternoon in the second part of the club’s weekend Devon double-header (KO 2pm).

The Tractor Girls, who won 7-0 away at Luton in the FA Cup last Sunday, are fourth in FAWNL Southern Premier Division with 13 points from seven games, while the Pilgrims are second from bottom having taken only six points from their nine matches.

Town will be playing at Home Park for the second time in two seasons having beaten the Pilgrims 5-0 in October last year, the day after the men’s fixture.

"We had a good trip down there last year and it’s great that we get the opportunity to travel the day before,” manager Joe Sheehan said.

"I think players have always been fond of overnight stays and spending time some real good time with each other and you always find out something you didn’t know about one another. It’ll be great for the team.

"[Plymouth] won at the weekend [4-2 at home to Cheltenham], I’m sure they’ll be full of confidence and we’ve got to put in another performance that’s going to give us every chance of getting three points and I think last Sunday's game gives us that kind of confidence and lots of really good reflections to take into this weekend.”

Recalling on last year’s fixture, he added: "It was a good game and I think there were good numbers there in terms of supporters and we were delighted to have some supporters stay down after the men’s game.

"Hopefully with the men at Exeter on Saturday, some might be tempted to stick around and go another hour down the road and I’m sure Plymouth will be backed by some real strong supporters as well.

"Hopefully a great occasion for women’s football in front of a good crowd and hopefully it can be a really good game.”

Bonnie Horwood is set to return to the team having been left out of last week’s game at Luton as a precaution.
