Armstrong's Goal an Omen? - Ipswich Town News

Alun Armstrong says some of the Town squad are seeing superstitious parallels between his goal at Spurs last December and his recent 20-yarder at Watford.

The goal at Spurs marked a change in fortune for Town as they went from a run of defeats to last winter's winning spell.

Armstrong and some of his team-mates are wondering if the goal at Vicarage Road will prove a similar turning point: "A few of the lads, like myself, are quite superstitious and we've been talking about that goal at Spurs," he told the Colchester Gazette.

"It was about the same time of the year, we stayed at the same hotel and then we played them again within a month or so, just as we're doing this time with Watford.

"It may only be a coincidence but I do often look for parallels like that.

"The omens look good but now we've got to make sure we sustain the momentum after beating Coventry on Saturday.

"We go to Nottingham Forest at the weekend and that's another massive game.

"But I feel confident and so do the rest of the lads. At last, we're getting the rub of the green now and two wins in a row has been a huge lift."
