Keeper Rumours Galore - Ipswich Town News

According to the newspapers Town are about to sign a full 11 of goalkeepers. Those mentioned include Alex Manninger rumoured to be part of an exchange deal with Richard Wright and even the Turkey keeper Rustu Recber.

Sadly, Rustu would cost about £5 million and also looked a bit dodgy on crosses throughout the tournament.

Other names mentioned were Ian Bennett from Birmingham, although Trevor Francis is bound to bump his fee up ridiculously and have a bit of a moan about it.

Stockport's Carlo Nash has also been mentioned as has Crewe's Jason Kearton, a man who has always impressed against Town and who was born in Ipswich. Ipswich, Queensland.

However, there is still no word from Wright and there are those suggesting he might sign a contract extension after all and all the speculation that he might leave over the last week has been created purely by his agent Jonathan Barnett in order to find out what genuine interest there is in Wright from the bigger clubs.

Meanwhile, Keith Branagan sits in the background with his fingers crossed.

Kieron Dyer has apologised for his holiday antics reported in the tabloids last Sunday. He says he and his fellow holidaymakers, Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand, were a bit naive.

He also says he was not glassed at Kartouche, but merely hit when trying to intervene when a friend was involved in an incident. He has vowed to quieten down his party lifestyle and concentrate on his game.
