Royle Impressed With Side - Ipswich Town News
Town manager Joe Royle was impressed with his side's performance last night against a strong Liverpool side in the Worthington Cup.
Royle pointed out that Liverpool fielded only one youngster, striker Neil Mellor, and he was pleased with his own team's efforts: "We defended well and created many chances. Anfield is not an easy place to come to and do that.
"It is disappointing to lose on penalties, but I think we can take a great deal from this performance.
"The spirit throughout the side was excellent and the teamwork and commitment first class. The result had disappointed us all but the way our fans gave our team a great reception at the end, showed what they thought of the performance."
