Scales in Ipswich - Ipswich Town News

John Scales is in Town for his medical and looks likely to join the Blues late today should his fitness be up to standard. The ex-Spurs player will join on a free but will get a substantial signing on fee.

Newcastle have ruled themselves out of all the goalkeeper chasing action. Bobby Robson's club have pointed out that they already have four 'keepers thank you very much and that any more might be seen as a severe extravagance. Steve Harper, Shay Given, John Karelse and Lional Perez are currently the men slugging it out, although it looks lile Karelse and Perez wil be on the move soon. Newcastle (apparently about to sign Craig Bellamy from Norwich for £6 million) join Chelsea as non-runners with just Arsenal (3-1) and Celtic (7-1) and a continued prescence at Town (1-2) currently in the line-up. Wright is still in America. Another quote from Jonathan Barnett later this afternoon in all likelihood. Carlo Nash has again been mentioned as a target for Town.
