South African central defender Justin Miller has turned down a permanent move to Leyton Orient in order to prove himself at Portman Road. The 22-year-old played the final game of a highly impressive three-month loan spell at Brisbane Road on Saturday.
Miller, Town's reserve captain last season, was given a standing ovation by home supporters after Orient beat Torquay 2-0. However, despite enjoying his time with Paul Brush's side, he is now concentrating on Town: "Orient offered me a contract and in a lot of ways I would liked to have stayed but I'm settled in Ipswich and I need to give that a go.
"The new manager has not even seen me play yet so now that I'm back I intend to impress him and try and break into the first-team squad."
Miller is giving himself two months to show Joe Royle what he can do with a return to East London at that stage not out of the question. His Town contract is up at the end of the season.
