Petta Arrest Shock! - Ipswich Town News

Former Town winger Bobby Petta was one of three Celtic players arrested in Newcastle last night on suspicion of robbery.

Petta, along with Johan Mjallby and Joos Valgaeren, spent the night in the cells after an incident involving a Daily Record photographer and his camera outside Buffalo Joe's, an American theme bar in Gateshead. Neil Lennon was arrested for a breach of the peace and later released.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "There was an incident of some sort. The players left the premises, then one of the photographers reported the theft of his camera to police.

"After investigations on the quayside of the river, a number of Celtic players were arrested for questioning and three remain in custody and will be questioned later."

Petta joined the Bhoys from Town on a Bosman in July 1999 after spending three years at Portman Road.
