Town have confirmed the signing of John Scales. The 34-year-old signs for one year on a free after being released by Tottenham.
Manager George Burley said of the signing: "John Scales is a proven quality defender who has played at the highest level throughout his career.
"He had a frustrating time at Tottenham Hotspur with injury but in the past six months he has fully recovered his fitness.
"John has had injury problems in the past but after speaking in depth to our medical team and to the player himself, I am optimistic that he is over these.
"This is a rare opportunity to secure a player of his stature and quality on a free transfer. I have spoken to a number of reliable people in the game who have spoken very highly of John.
"I have every confidence that John has the ability and desire to make a big impact for Ipswich in the Premiership."
