Town manager Joe Royle says that his attempt to sign French defender Laurent Charvet may not work out. Charvet has been on trial with the Blues and Royle is keen to sign him on a monthly basis.
However, Charvet, released by Manchester City in October, wants a longer term deal. Royle says this could prove an insurmountable obstacle: "We are still keen to sign him and he wants to come but he is looking for something until at least the end of the season while we can only offer a monthly contract.
"We are still talking but I have to admit it doesn't look likely that we will get him.”
Prior to joining Town on trial last Monday, Charvet had been training with Manaco. He is also reported to be interesting French side Sochaux.
