Two Internationals for Town - Ipswich Town News

Town manager George Burley has revealed that he currently has two bids tabled with Premiership clubs for full international players. The Town manager said: "The two clubs concerned have received substantial offers from us for these two players. We are waiting to hear back and, if there is no joy, then there are all sorts of other possibilities that we can go into elsewhere. But I can confirm that the bids are in. It’s possible that both may be accepted, you never know. We want to add more players of quality and we feel that these players fit that bill." One of these is thought to be Coventry's Gary Breen, although the Sky Blues certainly are after a lot more than the £2 million that Town see as the player's value.

Other than that no names spring obviously to mind, although Russell Latapy, the Hibs player Town have been linked with for the last two or three weeks, is a full Trinidad and Tobago player. However, this story has been refuted by the Edinburgh club so the identities of the two players Town are after could well be a complete mystery.

Meanwhile, Town are also being linked with Sunderland defender Darren Williams. The player is 23-years-old and doesn't hold down a regular spot at the Stadium of Light. He played 28 times last season, but didn't really nail down any position of his own; he played at centre-half, full-back and in midfield during the course of the season. Although Peter Reid rates him very highly he may listen to offers above £2 million. Leicester are also thought to be interested.
