Naylor at the Back? - Ipswich Town News
Joe Royle says that Richard Naylor could get a central defensive role against Morecambe on Saturday due to Town's sudden shortage of players.
Royle will be trying out a number of formations in training today with several players out for a variety of reasons.
Chris Makin is suspended, Jim Magilton on compassionate leave while Thomas Gaardsøe (groin) and Tommy Miller (knee and calf) are doubts. Marcus Bent missed training on Thursday with a groin complaint.
John McGreal is still out with his knee problem while Mark Venus is fit after also suffering with knee injury. Given the number of players out Justin Miller might well have been considered had he not played for Leyton Orient against Margate earlier in the competition. He also has tonsilitis at present.
Better news is that Martijn Reuser, Finidi George and Alun Armstrong are all available after spending much of Christmas in fitness training with Simon Thadani.
