Me Fat?! - Joe - Ipswich Town News
Town manager Joe Royle says he is amazed that Town supporters are referring to him as 'Big Fat Joe'. However, he says it doesn't bother him one way or another.
The Blues' boss said: "I can't believe Ipswich fans see me as fat. No, seriously, the 'Big Fat Joe' chant doesn't bother me. I neither like it nor dislike it - at least the supporters are chanting my name as a term of endearment."
Royle also defended himself against claims of a history of long-ball football, something many fans accused him of at the time of his appointment: "I found it hard to understand the anti-feeling before I arrived because my CV stands up to most and I'm proud of my record. I have never played long ball so that theory was ridiculous."
