Agent Denies New Wright Discussions - Ipswich Town News
Richard Wright's agent, the ever popular Jonathan Barnett, has said that he doubts there will be any new discussions between his client and Town. The agent said: "I don't think there will be any more contact with Ipswich in the foreseeable future. Richard just wants to get on with playing his football for Ipswich and helping them stay in the Premiership". With no club coming in for Wright and no new contract signed Town will have to tread very cautiously in order to get as much as possible for Wright from any transfer. Sticking him in the reserves would reduce any fee as would ostracising Wright in any other way. If, as Barnett says, Wright doesn't sign a new deal, Town must face letting their star keeper go for less than his value either sooner or later.
Tony Mowbray has issued a challenge to Town's centre halves: keep me out of the team. The 37-year-old hoped to spend the majority of last seaosn on the bench with George Burley and now is looking to Town's younger men to keep him coaching rather than extending his distinguished playing career any further.
