McKenna: Burns Set For Return - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Kieran McKenna says that as it stands winger Wes Burns is available for some minutes during Saturday’s home game against Swansea City at Portman Road, while fellow Welshman Nathan Broadhead has trained having been ill in midweek.

Brandon Williams missed last week’s game at Birmingham having been unwell before returning to the bench at Rotherham on Tuesday and McKenna says there is still some illness among the squad but with Broadhead back on the grass having been absent against the Millers.

"We still have a little bit of sickness knocking about in the camp, but Nathan Broadhead trained today, so that was positive,” the Blues boss said.

"Axel [Tuanzebe] came through the game [at Rotherham] fine. Wes is now training with the group, so that’s a positive and we’re going into the weekend in a pretty good place.”

Quizzed on whether Cardiff fan Burns, who suffered a shoulder injury while away with Wales last month, might be fit enough to return against the Swans, McKenna said: "It’s not impossible. He’s come through all fine, has recovered well and he’s available for some minutes tomorrow, as it stands.”
