Finidi Deal Off - Ipswich Town News

Town midfielder Finidi George will not be joining Turkish side Fenerbahce according to Gerd Butzeck, the agent who had been brokering the deal. Butzeck told TWTD that he wasn't expecting any further interest from the Turkish club.

Butzeck, a German agent, told us: "He will not be going to Fenerbahce. They were interested but now they are not. I don't expect there will be any further developments."

Reports earlier had indicated that the Nigerian and the Istanbul club had been in talks, however according to Butzeck Fenerbahce had not got as far as talking to the midfielder before deciding not to pursue their interest.

Town are willing to let their £20,000-a-week highest earner leave on a free transfer and are negotiating a settlement on the two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract. The Blues signed George from Real Mallorca for £3.1 million in the summer of 2001.
