Two Becomes Three? - Ipswich Town News

George Burley's attempts at turning Portman Road into Little Sweden took another turn today with rumours that a third Swede may be on his way to the club. Swedish sources suggest that Andreas Jakobsson is not the only Helsingborgs player we are interested in and that Magnus Powell may also have caught the Burley eye. Striker Powell is 24 and measures 184cm (about 6'1" by my calculations) and is highly rated by Helsingborgs fans. One said of him: "Powell rocks. Actually they are [both] so darn good that we'd like to keep them in our club. I sincerely hope that they do not do the mistake and leave our club for Ipswich Town [sic]. Well. If your club wants to get them. They'd better pay at least £2.5 million."

Unlikely Town will be looking at that sort of fee and £1m plus (as opposed to yesterday's entertaining typo of £1 plus) is the figure which has been mentioned for Jakobsson.

Meanwhile, Jonas Axeldahl is likely to play for Town tomorrow against FC Twente. Definitely missing the game through injury are Jim Magilton (thigh), Titus Bramble (ankle) and Adam Tanner (knee). Richard Wright is likely to return after missing the win at Peterborough.
