Whitton Leaves Colchester - Ipswich Town News
Former Town striker Steve Whitton has left his job as manager of Colchester United. Whitton leaves Layer Road by mutual consent.
Whitton moved from Portman Road to Colchester in March 1994 for £10,000 when he was still a player. After a spell as assistant boss he became manager August 1999.
This season has not gone well for Whitton and Colchester are currently third from bottom of Division Two.
Another former Town man, Geraint Williams, takes over as caretaker manager.
