Veteran defender Mark Venus will have a knee operation today. The 35-year-old had been expecting to hear that he required the surgery to repair a small tear.

Venus has been out of the Town team for six weeks and is now likely to be on the sidelines for around four more.

The former Wolves man has been suffering with a virus this week.
