Town Women in Cup Derby Action - Ipswich Town News

Ipswich Town Women are in FAWNL Cup determining round derby action against Norwich City at Carrow Road this evening (KO 7.45pm).

The Town Women, who have won their two FAWNL Southern Premier Division games so far, will be followed by more than 700 Blues supporters as they cross the border into enemy territory to face the Canaries, who play at a level below the Blues.

Manager Joe Sheehan says that the league games have been given the priority up until this week.

"It’s something we’ve not thought too much about because of the league focus but now it’s our next game, we’ve been able to pay a lot of attention to it,” he said.

"We’ve prepared really well, it’s going to hopefully be a really good game, a great occasion and we’re really excited for it.

"It’s obviously going to be a competitive game, we’ve got a few questions and some decisions over some of the changes we might make, but largely it’s going to be the squad we’ve had available for the previous two games.

"It will be a really fierce, competitive game as a derby game and we obviously we travel to Carrow Road, which will be predominantly filled with home supporters, but we’ll have a really strong backing ourselves.

"It’s an atmosphere we’re looking forward to, which will play an exciting part and will add a little bit extra to the fixture. We’ll be playing a team which will be ready to face us, is going to be well prapred and ready to compete to try and progress in the competition.”

Further tickets will be on sale from the Town ticket office from midday and will be available at the Carrow Road South Stand ticket office from 6pm until kick-off.
