Boro Closing in on Edmundson - Ipswich Town News
Middlesbrough are closing in on the loan signing of Blues centre-half George Edmundson.
The 27-year-old was one of those expected to leave on deadline day having dropped well back in the pecking order following the signings of Jacob Greaves and Dara O’Shea.
Edmundson joined Town on a four-year deal from Rangers in the summer of 2021.
Since then, the Manchester-born defender has made 71 starts and four sub appearances, scoring five times.
But, following the summer business, Edmundson is now Town’s sixth-choice centre-half, while the Blues currently have 28 players who qualify for the 25-man Premier League squad with another signing expected, meaning three or four players are likely to move on.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match AbandonedTown look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
