Magpies on Darrens Bid - Ipswich Town News
Newcastle United have hit back at claims on 'underhand' tactics levelled at their joint bid for Darren Ambrose and Darren Bent.
A club spokesperson denied any deviousness in their approach: "[Newcastle United] had not acted improperly, that they were very disappointed that Ipswich had seen fit to divulge confidential information to the press and that in any case, the bid was substantially more than the reported figure.
"Furthermore, United stressed that there was no slight intended to the Ipswich Town board by Newcastle United approaching the Administrator directly. A good relationship has always existed between Newcastle United and Ipswich Town, clearly demonstrated in the past through the transfer dealings between the two clubs."
We're not convinced that is quite the case anymore.
