Town Women in Cup Action at Exeter - Ipswich Town News

Town Women are in FAWNL Cup first round action against Exeter City at St James Park this afternoon (2pm KO).

The Blues have already faced the Grecians at their stadium in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division this season, Ella Rutherford scoring two debut goals off the bench to claim a 2-2 draw.

Manager Joe Sheehan wants a better display than in that match having been unhappy that afternoon.

"Exeter are an opponent we are quite familiar with having played them earlier on in the season,” he told the club site.

"It was a disappointing performance that day so we’ll be looking to improve on that this weekend.

"We are pleased to have responded well in the games which followed our last visit there.

"We know it’s not going to be easy against a team who are really strong at home and who have had a positive start to their league season.

"We are looking forward to the challenge and need to make sure we put in a better performance than last time we faced them.”

Last month, Town thrashed Norwich City 4-0 at Carrow Road in the determining round of the FAWNL Cup.
