Town Women Win in Cup at Exeter - Ipswich Town News

Ipswich Town Women defeated Exeter City 3-1 at St James Park in round one of the FAWNL Cup this afternoon.

Ella Rutherford, who scored both goals on her Town debut as the Blues drew 2-2 with the Grecians in the league last month, opened the scoring in the 12th minute when she converted Summer Hughes’s cutback.

Sarah Stacey levelled for the Devon side just before half-time, but the Blues restored their lead just before the hour, Angela Addison tapping in Issy Bryant’s cross.

Four minutes from the end, Issy Fisher (pictured) completed the scoring with her first goal for the club from Maisy Barker’s cross.

"I am delighted to progress in the competition. It was an improvement on our performance in our previous visit to Exeter which is what I wanted to see,” manager Joe Sheehan told the club site.

"There were some good individual performances which players can take confidence from. I am also delighted for Issy Fisher who scored her first Ipswich Town goal.”
