Burgess on Bench For Australia - Ipswich Town News
Blues centre-half Cameron Burgess is on the bench for Australia, who are in action against China in a World Cup qualifier in Adelaide this morning (KO 10am).
Australia have made a disastrous start to the third round of AFC World Cup qualifying, losing 1-0 at home to Bahrain and drawing 0-0 in Indonesia last month, and are currently fifth in their group. The top two go through to the finals and the teams third and fourth to another stage of qualification.
Burgess has previously 10 full caps having come into the squad under previous boss Graham Arnold with this morning’s game new manager Tony Popovic’s first in charge.
Town midfielder Massimo Luongo was also named in the party but pulled out due to an ankle injury at the weekend.
The Socceroos subsequently face group leaders Japan in Saitama on Tuesday.
