U18s Beaten By Charlton - Ipswich Town News

Town's U18s were beaten 3-2 by Charlton Athletic at Bent Lane on Saturday morning.

The young Blues got off to the worst possible start as they found themselves behind inside two minutes when Bradley Tagoe rounded keeper Alan Fleischer and slotted home.

Tagoe then added a second on 20 with a curling first-time finish from just inside the box after a quick break.

However, Jamie Mauge pulled one back eight minutes before the break with a tap-in from close range after good work from Ashton Boswell on the right.

On 65, Town equalised when Bobby Sains (pictured) sent over an in-swinging corner from the left which ended up in the net after visiting keeper Jude Sadler missed his attempted punch.

Despite the Blues pressing for a winner, the Addicks took all three points six minutes from time when skipper Jacob Safa found the bottom corner of the net with a low shot from the edge of the box.

U18s: Fleischer, Brouwers, McCann, Elliott, Chenery (Heard 63), Towler (Longwe 85), Boswell (Eze 61), Sains (Iorpenda 85), Mauge, Compton, Nicolaou. Unused: Fletcher.
