Town Women Thrash Plymouth - Ipswich Town News
Ipswich Town Women maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 5-1 thrashing of Plymouth Argyle at Home Park this afternoon.
The Blues took the lead in the 16th minute when Leah Mitchell’s header from Shauna Guyett’s corner crept through the keeper and over the line.
Town had the ball in the net for a second time on 29 but the linesman’s flag had been raised and in first-half injury time the Pilgrims levelled through Charlotte Whitmore.
However, the Blues hit back after the break with Charlotte Fleming restoring the lead on 53, then Angela Addison quickly making it 3-1 five minutes later.
Skipper Maria Boswell made it four a minute from the scheduled end from close range, then four minutes into time added on Fleming added her second and Town’s fifth.
The Blues remain third in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division with leaders Hashtag United beating Gwalia United 2-1 and second-placed Oxford United winning 1-0 away at Watford. However, Town, who host Hashtag in the FAWNL Cup next Sunday, have a game on both teams above them.
