Academy Left-Back McCann on Target For Northern Ireland U17s - Ipswich Town News
Academy left-back Darragh McCann was on the scoresheet as Northern Ireland’s U17s beat Scotland 3-1 in their opening Euro 2025 qualifying mini-group game at Seaview Stadium in Belfast this afternoon.
McCann, 16, who joined the Blues in the summer from Belfast club Glentoran’s academy, signing a three-year deal, completed a neat build-up with a fine finish five minutes after half-time to put his side 2-1 in front.
The Northern Irish youngsters next take on the Republic of Ireland on Friday and Lithuania next Monday in their other two group games, also in Belfast.
McCann has previously been capped at U15 and U16 levels, while Town U18s forward Sid Eldred, who also won caps with the U16s, missed out on a call-up this time due to injury.
