Slicker in Full Scotland Squad - Ipswich Town News
Town keeper Cieran Slicker has been called into the full Scotland squad for the first time for their November Nations League matches, however, there is no place for George Hirst.
Slicker has won 19 U21s caps and skippered his side during their September games but this is the first time he has been included by first-team manager Steve Clarke.
The Scots host Croatia at Hampden Park on Friday 15th November, then travel to take on Poland in Warsaw on Monday 18th November.
Slicker seems unlikely to be involved in either game with Craig Gordon (Hearts) and Robby McCrorie (Kilmarnock) also named.
The 22-year-old recently signed a new contract with the Blues, which runs to the summer of 2028 having joined the Blues from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 and made two Carabao Cup appearances last season.
In the summer, Town considered sending the Manchester-born glovesman, who qualifies for Scotland via his father, out on loan but ultimately manager Kieran McKenna opted to keep him at Portman Road as third choice behind summer signing Aro Muric and Christian Walton.
Blues striker Hirst also qualifies for Scotland, in his case through his grandfather, but is yet to receive a call-up and last week said he was yet to be contacted.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match AbandonedTown look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
