McKenna: No New Injuries, Tuanzebe Set to Return After Break - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Kieran McKenna has no new injury problems going into Sunday’s game at Tottenham Hotspur but revealed Axel Tuanzebe should be able to return to action after the international break with Jacob Greaves and Jack Taylor also back on the grass.

The Blues have been through a tough spell of injuries but appear to have some light at the end of the tunnel and no one else in the treatment room.

"No, nothing new since last weekend,” he said. "So we're pretty much in the same position.

"The boys who are returning from injury are progressing well and I think after the international break if this weekend goes well, we'll be in a strong position.”

Regarding Tuanzebe (hand surgery), Greaves (hamstring) and Taylor (hamstring), he added: "They’re getting on well, Axel’s had a cast fitted now, so he’s able to join in in some contact training and will definitely be fine after the break, unless there are any issues.

"Jacob is almost in full training, not full training yet and Jack Taylor will hopefully commence training over the international break.”

McKenna says midfielder Massimo Luongo is fine, despite being left out of the Australia squad.

"Mass is OK, he’s only been training a little bit, so I think it’s wise not to be in that squad,” he said. "But he’s full trained so he’s available for the weekend.”

Similarly, midfielder Jens Cajuste was left out of the Sweden squad to help manage the knee, which recently kept him out of action.

Skipper Sam Morsy came through last week’s game against Leicester fine following his hamstring issue: "Samy was OK, got through the game and the training week.”

Centre-half Dara O’Shea continues to play through his injury, which McKenna says the Irish international will be with him for a while yet.

"Battling on through his back issue,” he said. "He’s managed it incredibly well. It was an unfortunate situation for him to get the injury and have to play through internationals with it, but he’s managed it incredibly well through pain and through very limited training, he’s made himself available and will hopefully be available this weekend.

"He has an issue in his back that I probably won’t go into the medical details of. He has an issue from an impact in his back that he picked up in the West Ham game, so it’s something that’s going to need to be managed for quite a period of time. Hopefully, it will get better as time goes on but he’s managed it terrifically so far.”

Town will be without Kalvin Phillips, who is suspended for one match following last week’s red card, while Harry Clarke is available again following his dismissal at Brentford.
