Ambrose Deal Imminent? - Ipswich Town News
A report in a national newspaper claims that Newcastle United are set to sign Darren Ambrose by the end of this week. Whether there is any truth in the story remains to be seen, however it is clear that Bobby Robson is keen on the 18-year-old.
The latest price quoted is £2.5 million for Ambrose on his own. Previously Newcastle had a bid of £3 million for Ambrose, Darren Bent and Matt Bloomfield turned down. A subsequent bid of the same amount for just Ambrose and Bent was also refused by the Blues.
Town were less then a impressed with the Magpies' initial approach as they went through administrators Deloitte and Touche and not the club.
