Milton: Thanks For the Love and Support - Ipswich Town News

Former Blues midfielder Simon Milton has sent his thanks to fans for the love and support he has received after being taken ill during yesterday’s game against AFC Bournemouth.

Milton, 61, now a club ambassador who works in hospitality at the ground on a matchday, was attended to in the directors’ box, which was evacuated, before being taken to hospital.

In a message released by the club, Milton said: "Dear All, I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for all the unwavering love and support I’ve received from everyone. Your messages, thoughts, and prayers have meant the world to me.

"Thank you to the first responders for their swift and professional help. I’m incredibly grateful for their quick actions in such a difficult situation.

"I’m now home and resting, and while I deeply appreciate all of your kind words, please understand that I’m unable to respond to everyone as there are hundreds of messages coming in.

"Right now, I’m spending some much-needed quality time with my family, and I kindly ask that you respect our privacy during this time. I look forward to seeing you all back at Portman Road very soon. Lots of love, Simon Milton.”

Milton was a player with the Blues between 1987 and 1998 having signed from Bury Town in 1987 for a fee of £5,000, and subsequently worked in off-field roles until leaving his full-time role in 2007 to take charge of the Futurestars charity.

Since the takeover, Fulham-born, Thetford-raised Milton has returned to regular involvement with the club through his ambassadorial role and work with the Ex-Players Association.

During his playing career, he spent time on loan at Exeter and Torquay as he adjusted to the senior game but otherwise played all his EFL games with the Blues.
